Stop Living With Ingrown Toenail Pain
A single, minor procedure under local anaesthetic relieves your pain for good. No more dressings, no more antibiotics, no more hoping it gets better on its own.
Sound Familiar?
Constant Pain
Throbbing, aching pain that gets worse when anything touches your toe — shoes, socks, even bed sheets.
Recurring Infections
Redness, swelling and discharge that keeps coming back, no matter how many courses of antibiotics you take.
Waiting for the NHS
Months on a waiting list, being told to manage it yourself in the meantime — while the pain gets worse.
Ingrown toenails rarely resolve on their own. Without treatment, they typically worsen — causing more pain, more infection, and more disruption to your daily life. There is a permanent fix, and it takes less than an hour.
What Is Nail Surgery?
Nail surgery (also called partial nail avulsion) is a minor, in-clinic procedure that permanently removes the edge of the nail causing your problem. It is performed under local anaesthetic, so you feel nothing during the procedure itself.
A chemical called phenol is applied to prevent that section of nail from ever growing back. The nail still looks completely normal — just without the painful edge that has been causing you problems.
Recovery is straightforward. Most patients are back on their feet the same day, and fully healed within four to six weeks.
What to Expect
The whole process is straightforward and takes around 45 minutes from start to finish.
Initial Consultation
We assess your nail and confirm nail surgery is the right option for you. No surprises.
Local Anaesthetic
A small injection numbs your toe completely. You may feel a brief sting — after that, nothing.
The Procedure
The offending nail edge is carefully removed and phenol applied. Pain-free and over in minutes.
Walk Out & Heal
You leave the same day with a dressing and clear aftercare instructions. Full healing takes 4–6 weeks.
Transparent Pricing
One fee covers your consultation, the procedure, and your follow-up dressing appointment. No hidden costs.

What Our Patients Say
Real patients. Real results. No more pain.
"I contacted Paddock Wood Podiatry as my son had a bad ingrown toe nail. It was causing a lot of pain. Paddock Wood Podiatry managed to get my son into the clinic quickly for nail surgery. He got a bit nervous but Deborah talked him through each step and made sure he was comfortable. He is no longer in discomfort from the ingrown toe nail. What he thought would be a horrible experience was actually a really positive experience. I would highly recommend Paddock Wood Podiatry."
"After nearly 2 painful months of being passed around the NHS service, my daughter finally had her ingrown nail fixed. Lovely lady, very kind and put her at ease. Also had given us a very quick appointment after a telephone call. Absolutely recommend this place."
Common Questions
Will it hurt?
The local anaesthetic injection can feel like a brief sting, but once your toe is numb you will not feel the procedure itself. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is.
How long does it take?
The appointment is around 45 minutes from start to finish. The procedure itself takes only 10–15 minutes once the anaesthetic has taken effect.
Will my nail look normal afterwards?
Yes. Only the narrow edge causing the problem is removed. The nail still looks completely natural — most people cannot tell the difference at all.
How long until I am fully healed?
Most patients are comfortable walking the same day. The nail bed takes four to six weeks to fully heal. We will see you for a follow-up dressing appointment included in your fee.
Could the ingrown nail come back?
With phenolisation (the technique we use), the success rate is over 95%. The treated section of nail will not regrow. Rarely, a second procedure is needed — we will advise you if this is the case.
Can I come if I have been referred by my GP, or do I need to self-refer?
Either is fine. You do not need a GP referral to book with us — simply call or book online and we will take care of everything from there.
